Suggestions for Improvement on a Rig

I built my rig last June and I am looking to upgrade it this summer. There are a few things to note but I'll place that stuff by the item.

The motherboard shorted out after 4 months of use after which I sent it in and they sent me a new one ... which also was defective

These are the components you already own, or what you are planning on buying?

(If into 3d gaming at all, I'd opt for an X2-4200/Opty 170, or even a 3500+ if a single core rig will do , and an NF4 board, and then work hard to save an extra $40 to put in a 7800GT in it, which is significantly faster than a 6800T....)
