What is the diffence between Antec TP2-550EPS12V 550 Watt EPS12V PSU:
http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=22551 and ENERMAX EG651AX-VH EPS12V 550W Power Supply?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817103447

Im building an AMD Opteron system and need help making sure it all works together w/ the Tyan K8WE MB. Tyan recomends to only use a certain power supplies and unfortunatly they DO NOT list Antec TruePower 2 TP2-550 EPS12V. Which i already own and figured would work.

The power supplyies Tyan K8WE board recomends are:
---------------------------------------------
Silverstone ST-65ZF 650w = $169.
I-Star TC-500128A 500w = $137.
Enermax EG651AX-VH 550w = $175.
Zippy HP2-6460P = ?
PC power and cooling Turbo-cool 850 SSI * = $448.
--------------------------------------------------------------

My question is: Will the Antec not work on the K8WE? Are there certain specs I should compare? Should I absolutly send back my $99 Antec TruePower2 TP2-550 EPS12V and get one of the more expensive PSUs listed?

Here are my specs for the system I am planning to build.

If you already own it, it is a no brainer! Antec True Powers are among the top quality PSU's and do fine.
I have a True Power 430 watt and a 550 watt model. very stable good PSU's

You may want to read this article before using the Antec psu for your Tyan board.

<http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2608>

I've got the Tyan K8W (S2885) powered by an Enermax EG851AX-VH (660W) without issue or problems. Very stable and running 24/7 for weeks at a time.

Typically, if a mobo manufacturer recommends a specific make/model of psu or memory, it's usually a good good idea to use those components. Especially the memory...

I understand that thinking, but do not agree. Since they didn't test them all, or even many, they are not saying others do not work or the TruePower series doesn't, the spec is all that is needed for operation, and as long as your product meets or exceeds that spec it will work fine.

Whey did they just test two, and not all or most major vendors when it is obvious they will work fine? Could it not be partnerships or favoritism?

I think it was favortism. - But i decided to buy the Silverlake 650w instead of the antec, even though antec support told me they thought it would work. It cost me 79 dollars more but better safe then sorry.
