Whatever happned to the GTX prices?

Dunno if any people encountered the same issue as i did, but i just recentley noticed 7800 GTX prices going up the wazoo. I purchased a BFG 7800 GTX 256 MB OC vid card in august, and did so for about 500 dollars. And now, half a year (sorry, im prolly off) later, close to my b-day (I want to make myself a present of an SLI system by adding one more GTX) I find the same vid card costing 520 in Newegg. Thats not all, some websites list it for 600 (!) dollars. I also could swear i saw it selling 450 a month ago. Is it just me, or is BFG, and Nvidia gone completley insane? Raising the price of outdated (sorry, but it has been out for 3/4 of a year)technology is the last thing you should do. Can someone please tell me im just imagining things.

450ish, which is in line, as far as I can tell, with what its been costing the past several months. maybe not yours specifically, but they're not 500+ overall for sure.

I did the same but the price haven't drop that much today. Maybe it will go for $400 for high end 7800GTX in favor of the newer 7900 series. I drop $1000 on last November for two 7800GTX 256. The XFX are one of the lowest priced 7800GTX out there.
