It that time again. It's now peak season. And guess what kiddies ... Hurricane ERNESTO is brewing. It will become a Cat #1 hurricane, at minimum ... perhaps the stearing currents will take it to Texas ... or perhaps, New Orleans area ... :?: Stay tuned.

I guess it's time to check the "stuff" and make sure the supplies are in store.

This damn sure is getting old! :(

Drag Man!!!!

My mother is flying back down to her home in Naples on Mon.... Looks like she could be headed into a storm, so to speak......

Hope all stays well for you down there.

Updated - It's now Ernesto. Hope they have those levees rebuilt in New Orleans.

Tropical Storm ERNESTO ... and I hope they have an evacuation plan now ... (still can't believe that mayor got re-elected). 8O

Saw a track on FOX this morning saying a Cat 3 in the middle of the Gulf next week....

Looks like it's headed for NO as well........

Reply to RCPilot

Odd how all the experts said at the end of last year that 2006 was going to be the year that hurricane activity lightened up for the Gulf but the eastern seaboard was gonna get creamed...& here we go... the 1st is heading for the gulf.

Experts my ass :?

Reply to AilingBlackLab

My thoughts exactly!!!!! It's some crazy stuff, that's for sure!!!!

Reply to RCPilot

The experts that were on CNN say that 18 storms this year above CAT 3's and of those 18 storms 6 would be capable of Cat 4 and of those 6 two of them would be Cat 5's and the likelihood of 1 of those hitting New Orleans was 90%. Of course they predicted those numbers 8 months ago and also went on to say they stand by them for this Hurricane year and predict that the next 20 years will be the same or worse.

Just another brick in the wall.......

Reply to SoDNighthawk

The track takes a right turn & comes ashore just above you this morning!!!!! Packing 70 MPH winds already......

Next week might be quite a week for you down there..... Keep the gas tank full, by all means!!!!!

Of course, RC Rules are in effect & elevated to Red!!!!

Reply to RCPilot

Does that mean that Coors is being rationed?

Reply to WingDing

Hurricane ERNESTO new track brings it right at me ... worse case senerio.

This track will, hopefully, change, but right now - it looks bad. Gonna really fuck up Thursday and Friday probably. I so don't want to go board up again and start the "do we leave or stay" thing.

I live where I tried to draw the red X and circle:

Reply to Jake_Barnes

No, that means several cases must be stored up & iced down!!!!! You don't want to take a chance of running out of cold Coors beer!!!!!

Reply to RCPilot

When I saw the track this morning I knew you'd be pissed......

Leave or stay would suck, I'll tell you!!!!!!!

Reply to RCPilot

Dat' sux0rs , Kinda looks like the same track that Gloria took all those years ago :(

Reply to AilingBlackLab

Good luck! I'd say set up a beer fridge in the basement, you guys do slabs
down there, right?

Reply to KingLoftusXII

Looks like he's going to run through most of the center of FL this morning......

Reply to RCPilot

You mean Wednesday AM?

Reply to JustPlainJef

No, the new track came out this morning......

Reply to RCPilot

Yeah, and it shows it hitting Florida Wednesday AM.

Unless I'm missing something...

Reply to JustPlainJef

Those retired guys never know what day it is...

Reply to _WW_

True... I forgot about that...

Well, he's so old that it's dangerous to measure time in days / weeks / months / years... He might not make it... Hell, hours is dangerous for him...

He measures time in Coors...

Reply to JustPlainJef

It's plain as day!!!!!! I never said when it was going to hit..... I said the track changed this morning!!!!!

I'd back off what little beer you drink, it's affecting you greatly....

Reply to RCPilot

OH... So you meant to say that, according to this morning's prediction, he's going to run through central Florida...

OK, now I understand... Thanks for the explanation.

Reply to JustPlainJef

I knew what you meant all along. [/whistling]

Shit!... I hate when they ride the coast like that....Gives it a good chance of getting me in Jersey.
Those fcukers like to bob & weave their way up the coast...Never follow a straight track.

Reply to AilingBlackLab

Good luck to all those that may be affected in some way this season...

Reply to JustPlainJef

Looks like you've got a rain maker coming your way.... Up too 10" of it in places.... Maybe you dodged a bullet on this one.... Well depending how the power grid stands up to the storm......

They also say it's going to curve into the Great Lakes & die out after coming up the east coast..... Dam good thing I've got RC Rules in place!!!!!!!!

Reply to RCPilot

It's headed up your way Man!!!! You might get the outer bands of rain, before it turns NW......

Reply to RCPilot

I just got back from sending a fax at an office supply store. It's just grey skies and occassional rain - zero winds. I don't expect a damn thing out of this pissy little tropical storm.

Reply to Jake_Barnes

With the Eye inland ,no worries... when the eye stays off shore & does little whooptydo's thats when I worry.

Reply to AilingBlackLab

Sits back in the wonderful prairies with no worries whatsoever.

No Hurricanes
No Earthquakes
No Flooding

Minor Tornadoes, but never near the city

Strange... You didn't put "Door blocking blizzards" in that list.

We're used to it though and have learnt to deal with the snow.

You guys get a foot of snow and cancel the whole day.

We get 5 feet and bring out the snowmobiles and bobcats and keep on truckin.

I've never ever seen a snowday here. All the schools have thier own bobcats to push the snow. Plows are pretty decent in keeping the roads clean. And in the case of small towns, everyone has a snowmobile to use to either go to work, or push down the snow on the roads enough to get the cars out :D

and Jake, yes, yesterday was a mother... heheh

Thats because you only have 3 roads.O_o [/un-called for but big chit]

Reply to AilingBlackLab

Compared to your super highways and such. Yes.

You'd prolly consider my city a small town!

Reply to CHEEZball

We have very few snow days here, usually when its really cold, like 30 or 40 below windchill, but we only get one or two a year...

The other time would be if we have a ton of snow overnight and its going to affect the busses, but there's maybe only one or two of those also...

Down in FLA, if they get like 1/2" of snow, they shut down everything. Same w/ Southern CA...

Pussies!

Reply to JustPlainJef
