Hello,

This question was probably posted/answered previously, however going thru some of the threads i couldn't find what I was looking for.

I am looking for help in building an Intel base gaming PC, but it should also be able to do heavey multi-tasking.

I noticed that most of the gamer PCs are AMD based, but I would like to stick with Intel CPU and Asus board with intel chipset.

Budget is < $2G.

What configuration would you recommend?
Asus board (intel chipset)?
CPU (intel)?
memory?
HD? SATA or IDE?
Video card?

I need to be as stable as possible...

Thanks a lot in advance for your help,

Nav.

Thanks for the fast reply.

Intel's Conroe will be available in US only in 4-6month according to Intel, which means that in CA it will take another 8-10 months. Not sure I can wait that long.

Still, if you were to build today an intel based PC that can perform decently when playing games, what would you choose?

Yes go with one of the high end intel chip sets. I have a Pentium 4 630 in my gaming pc and it runs like a dream. You want Intel go Intel. If you want a penrium D make sure you get an intel chipset that supports them. Also get the 9xx series pentium D's.

Ok, so I go with
INTEL PENT-D3.2 2X2M 800 775BX 940 (would it be a big perf decrease to go with a 920 D2.8?),
ASUS EXTREME AX1800XT/2DHTV/512M,RADEON X1800XT,512M DDR3

What Asus board do you guys recommend? Memory and HD?
PSU 450? or 500?

Thanks.
