This is by far the best War stategy game I have ever played. I have the first Total War also. I reccomend this game to anyone that loves Huge army battles, and stunning graphics. The game alows you to scroll right inside the battle at hand and whatch the carnage. Very awesome!
I got bored by the game quite fast. I don`t really know why though. I think it was because all the battles all seemed similar an long. Oh yeah and there was a town that I could not take (I think a bug in the game).
In ancient times they had no statistics so they had to fall back on lies
I like how that one tower would wipe out 40% of your army because your 10,000 troops couldn't destroy that tower fast enough.
But that was a long time ago when I played AoE..
For me I found a different outcome. I would lose less, and they would lose more. I guess it is how your army is configured. Better soldiers means better outcome.
The game IS the same as all the others.... The only major game change is battles occurring on a point of a map rather than just crossing a border.
The game is also easier than previous incarnations and a few cavalry unit can route a much bigger army if used correctly. I think since I played the game I lost maybe 5 battles and won loads of hopeless situations.
Also the unpatched version had a bug where yur archers if placed too close to a unit in front shot yur own men in the back, dunno if that has been addressed.
Essentially Shogun was the best of these games (had a perfect battle map that u could realistically complete not like the crazyness of MTW or RTW and had units that had a purpose), fancy graphics as I always say does not a good game make.
Altho RTW is still fantastic if u have never played TW games before and I'd highly recommend it to people but for someone who has followed the series it's just more of the same, but prettier.

Good opinion, I have played both games, and both are great. The plot is what changed. It's rome. The graphics and layout will be the same cause that's total war. It's their style of game. I have no complaints. This game is definately very good.
