Does anyone know if Cingular and AT&T have combined their networks
yet? In another words, if I get a Cingular SIM, can I use AT&T's
network and vice versa? Thanks.

But cingular custonmers cannot freely roam on some ATTWS towers.
This has lead to a bad situaltion. In Virgina, where I was roaming,
the system cound NOT hand off between ATT and T-mobile towers.

I'm not so sure of this. Agreed its not system wide however I tried an
experiment a few weeks back that makes me think otherwise. Basically, I
put my Cingular sim card in my Nokia 6310i and for those who don't know
this phone doesn't support 850. To my astonishment it came up and the
display showed "Cingular Extend". Using netmonitor I was able to
determine I was using an AT&T tower. Later in the day when I tried it
from the house, I couldn't get it to connect to anything. I guess the
point I'm trying to make is that with most Cingular sim cards your never
going to be able to tell if you can roam on At&t as Cingular locks out
the network selection menu and renames alpha tags to "Cingular Extend".
