Yo All,

My new rig is running well, except for one minor problem, it gets hot to fast and bombs out. At first I thought the problem was with my CPU but noticed that the heat on the CPU is actually running at 29C which i think is not bad.

Now the Gfx Card is the problem. It gets hot and i mean hot it idles at 55c and as soon as i open a game it shoots up to abt 70-80c. To my personal prefrence it is abit hot as my puter just turns itself off when running a game, especially games that have a HLoD.

I dont want to change the cooler on the card, coz i dont wanna void the damn warranty.(I live in SA, and this card cost alsmot all my months salary :( )

I ve got a CMstacker with 120mm at the back and another 120mm on the Hard drive rack, I wanna get another HDD rack for the stacker which will include the 120mm fan and just mount it like that for more air flow.

Only problem is that i dont have anything controlling my FAN, so its running stock standard. I installed ATItool but it doesnt seem to work with my X1900XTX, and I want to use it to control my GPU fan speed to move it up when it gets hot as my GPU fan stays the same speed no increase.

SO here is my Q:

Where can I find the latest version of ATItool that works with the X1900XTX
and with the catelist drivers?

And if someone can PM me with some kewl cooling stuff for the CM stacker it would be appreciated.

O yes and FokofPoliesieKar, Kwai naam. Miskien kan jy my help want ek sien jy het dieselfde GPU :)

K Problem solved I got ATItool and then i set the fan speed to increase in increments as the Temp increases.

IT AARE WORKING.

AND I got 4829 on 3Dmark 2006..woohoo

Thanks Vokofpoliesiekar

I'm worried... you got 4829 on 3DMark2006 with an X1900XTX... then, how the HELL did i manage about 5200 with an X1900XT? o_O
due to heavy overclocking of your cpu I presume ;-)

I got 4100 with an x1800xt and I´m fine with it considering I didnt overclock my x2-4400.

I only OCed mine a little 10% extra, which makes it 2.4Ghz.... o_O.... and probably since i have 2GB of RAM.... and that hasn't been optimised yet....

Yes well that is a bit disturbing, but then again I only have 512 mb Ram. Getting my 2gig Ram at the end of this month. And everything is running standard on mine.

But still thats a good score. What i would like to know is, why the minor clock speed & Memory Hz between the XTX and the XT? and the price between the 2 are a few bucks.

Also as far as Core speeds go, mine is only running at like 500mhz and it should run at like 650mhz??????

Has anyone else who has a GeCube 1900XTX have this porb?

I guess you haven't heard that the x1000 series have dynamic voltage and speed control... so an X1900XTX will run at 500mhz in 2D mode, and then jump up to 650mhz or whatever its speed is when it hits a 3D application. Though ATITool doesn't show it, you can tell by the huge increase in amperage that the card uses when in a game.

he said "miskien" and the other words sounded vaguely like arabic, but even though i live in saudi (and i am lebanese) i actually don't know arabic (i'm a disgrace  )

But i do know some basic arabic though, and i think miskien means something like moron... not sure, but i know for sure it's a negative word!

I dont think the X1900 range needs OC'king, these cards are awesometacular.

But then again you dont need to MOD a car, but i like fast cars going even faster :D

To overclock the X1800XT and X1900 cards, there was a overclock utility at driverheaven that is very difficult to find, which I have it works great. I managed to get my X1800XT up to 729/1700 with it, and scored 5198 in 3dmark 06. http://service.futuremark.com/orb/projectdetails.jsp?projectType=14

Im actually upgrading to an X1900XTX cos its on an offer for £311 (£293 for an XT) and selling the X1800XT.

BTW I will definately be overclocking it. :D

http://i4memory.com/showthread.php?t=1865 - info on how to properly OC it.

Click the link on the first post here. It works best if you use ATI tool first to change the voltages, and then use overclocker to increase the 2D (not 3D) clocks. The fan speed can be set in ATI tool to respond to temperature fluctuations, or given a fixed rate using overclocker.

Increasing the GPU volts from stock to 1.375v allowed me to run fine at the PE speeds of 700/800. To get up to 729/846, I had to increasethe GPU volts up to 1.425 which gives a warning, and actually decrease the ram voltages to 1.85v and 2.001v on the first and second ratings to remove artifacts.

Some people have been able to hit 750/900, but I cant get anymore even with more volts.

Oh yea - This invalidates the warranty and could kill your card, so try it at your own risk.

On the cooling side, I just read somewhere that someone got there X1900xtx temps down from 72 to 65 degrees under load by replacing the thermal paste with arctic silver 5.

GREAT info!

Does the x1900xt come with some crap thermal paste already or does it just come with the little syringe looking thing for you to apply yourself? I think Arctic Silver 5 + Aftermarket Cooling (X2 or Zalman) would work wonders... no?

OH! I thought you meant for the Accelero X2... which in that case for that cooler, it comes with MX-1 thermal paste.... the stock paste on the X1900XT isn't very good, and pretty much anything could beat it (Even thermal insulation material... maybe not, but it would be worth a try! ).

It kinda slipped my mind that people have stock coolers since my X1900XT has an aftermarket cooler... duh silly me! :D
