Are they good? I'm in a position were the only brand name I see is thermaltake, and all other are not known (no antec, enermax, cooler master) but no-name, feather-weight 400W PS.

Any thoughts at all?

They are a name brand maker with a good reputation - mostly noted for their cooling products. I have not heard anything bad about their PSUs.

Thermaltake...do they actually make anything? Sirtek makes their power supplies, which are generally high quality.

I have one used with great success. Only issue with them is they use 2 -80mm fans, rear variable speed - which is quiet at lower speeds but run fast and very nosiy at full speed. Cooling is no problem with the fan throttles though.

I have one, it works, it is not exuberantly loud by any means, and I love cable sleeving.

The only thing I would ask for would be detachable cables, but oh well...

I have a Thermaltake 480 and to me it runs a little louder than advertised... this isn't based on any formal testing... just my ears. Perhaps it is my case (that will soon be replaced thank god!)

Overall mine has been a great unit... I've got an X2-4400 OC'd to 2.6 GHz and it is rock solid (until it overheats because of my retarded case... argh!) As long as I run the A/C in my room, I have a perfectly stable system so the power supply is definitely getting it down.

No, it's not just your ears...Thermaltake's sound ratings are..."a little enthusiastic".

I have the cheapest Thermaltake W0009R / TT420-AD and it has been 100% reliable for over a year powering my Son's PC (Athlon64 3400 / vnf3-250 / 1Gb (2 x 512) / BFG6800GT / 4 IDE HDDs / SCSI DVD & CD / 4 80mm fans) and my linux server (dual PIII 1Ghz / U160 18Gb raptor / 2 x SCSI DVD-roms) on and off for about 6mos each system.

The noise is not so bad considering the amount of air it pumps through the case, I would give them a positive recommendation...
