monitor problem

its not really a problem, more so an annoyance. Every time i take a brake from my computer and come back (give or take a couple of hours) i find that the screen size has changed (either wider or shorter) so i have press the button at the side of my monitor to change it back to normal...EVERYTIME! But why?

p.s. noone comes into my room, so please dont say my brother is trying to annoy me!

Power options?
Monitor settings on the monitor itself and in windows?

Check these and see if anything is set to go into standby mode.
Some screen savers will change resolution when active.

no screensavers, only after 20 minutes the screen turns off.

try it and see if the problem stops.
As for why its changeing resolution? I am not real sure.
If the problem does stop with it set at never, just turn your monitor off if your going to be away for a long time.
