must be slot 1, cannot use convertor, must be 133 fsb, P3 1.0 gig down to 866 mhz. Prefer closer to 1 gig or 1 gig.

Yes, you could use a converter if you really put an effort into finding a good one.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

whats the problem with a convertor? A good convertor would emulate all the functions of a real slot, there should not be any problem with that.

but certain BIOSes do check the model numbers and usually any socket models isnt listed with them. They can have problems.

I asked Intel tech support if I could use a sloket, the Asus S370-DL (of course, if I could find one) on the Intel T440BX server board, they said that the product is EOL (End of Life, thats agreed, it was discontinued in July 2000) but they should support it for the stipulated 3 years.

The support person said if you attempt this the warranty will be void. Intel support pages say that such a slocket hasnt been validated, but doesnt say whether it would function or not.

If there are size constraints, generally a socket processor has a much bugger HSF than the slot processor use to have, you can always get a low profile fan for the socket370 processor.

And as for 133 MHz FSB, you will get only those today, 100 MHz FSB chips are 1. rare and 2. costly! Guess what, Intel just dropped P-III 1 gig by about 20%!
