i have bought a new athlon 64 3200 cpu with ecs kn1 sli motherboard and 1 gb 3200 ram. i want a good gaming card and id like to know which to choose. ati x800xl or x800xt or a single 6800 ultra or 6800 ultra in sli? i kinda favour the ati cards but im not sure if its worth to go with sli as i think it does not have that great of performance for the money. with ati im missing out with sm3 but i dont think thats a big factor. what do you guys think?

SLI is for benchmarking scores.... It can show good performance gains in some games and hardly any at all in others, that's why I say it's for benchmarking scores. It's not worth the average user to drop that much money on an SLI configuration. Although if you have enough money to put 6800 Ultras in an SLI, I would recommend you spend that money and either go with an ATI x1900 or a Geforce 7900GT.[/quote]

I went to a LAN recently where someone had a x1900 and I have to say games looked awseome. Detailed ramped right up .... looked amazing 8O
