Hey

I can’t decide on what PSU to buy, plus im kinda short on cash.
Plz help me, I appreciate
My system specs are
AMD x2 4400
Geforce 7900GTX
Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe mobo
Raptor 74g Hard Drive
In the future im may be planning to go SLI :D

I want to get Antec TruePower 2.0 TRUECONTROL II-550 ATX12V 550W Power Supply and im not sure if it can handle it? I would like a supply somewhere around 130 or less that can handle it.

I just picked up a Antec TPII 550(with the 120mm fan).

I was thinking about the Neo, the prev-poster mentioned, but I didn't like the stuff I was reading about modular PSU - losing some power in the connectors, the connecters can become loose, they are a bit more expensive. That NEO is also noisier than the TPII-550.

I almost pulled the trigger. The ONLY thing that makes it better is that you only have to plug in the connectors you want. So if that is worth the extra few bucks, get the NEO - they are basically the same PSU.

In the $130 range you should be able to pick up a Seasonic S12 500W or an FSP Epsilon. Would recommend either of those over the NeoHE.

I looked at the FSP 600 watter - very very nice......but.......the antec comes in at 50 bucks cheaper and basically gives you the exact same performance......I saved the 50 bucks and went with teh antec, even though I really really liked the FSP 600 watter. It pained me cause the FSP's look cool and have teh quad 12v rails.

But when it boils down to performance the Antec TPII 550 is about the same.....and that 50 bucks can be dumped onto a better gpu or cpu.

That TPII 550W is an excellent choice! Especially at the current price point.

I currently have a

DFI LanpartyUT nF4 Ultra-D (BIOS 06/23/2005)
AMD Opteron 165 - soon to be OC to 2.4ghz
2x OCZ Platinum Edition 2GB PC-4000
Saphire Radeon X850XTT 256mb PCI-E x16
WD SATA 2 - 250 GB
4 NEC Black DVD+/-RW ND-3540A
ASPIRE X-Navigator ATXA9NW-AL
Antec - TPII-550 (True Power 2)

I must say the power supply is very nice, the voltages have been measured and are very accurate. However if you are like me it needs more fan connectors and connectors for CD writers. Otherwise it's perfect.

I bought mine from buy.com for 79 dollars. They give members coupons, even without it's better deal then new egg to me. I always get standard shipping and receive the items with in two days. (I must be near they distribution center)
