this is going to be my first venture into the sata world, so im not sure what im going to need. im repalcing my old ass maxtor diamondmax plus d740x with its wooping 2mb cache that i use for windows and programs, with a new sata wd raptor WD740. my question is do i need any special drivers to install windows on this disk or will it not matter since it wont be in raid? also which sata port should i use, nvidia or silicon image?

anything else you guys can think of would be greatly appreciated

thank you in advance

Like PAT said. BIOS will tell XP to use its standard IDE drivers for the SATA controller so long as RAID is disabled and you use the nVidia SATA controller rather than the other one.
