StarWars: Knights of the old republic

I purchased this game a couple of weeks ago, and have been playing since. At first I thought this game blew more than a french whore, but after playing for awhile I got used to the format (which didn't take long). The second Sith lords is on my next agenda. I really got into this game which doesn't really fit my likes. I'm more into Call Of Duty, Medal Of Honor, and a little of Farcry. KOTOR has really impressed me alot, and looking forward to the next two.

More about : starwars knights republic
Excuse me, no Starwars posting here please.. I'm already sick of hearing about the next movie coming out..
Actually... it's a known fact that you never buy a game created after a movie because they're generally created really fast to get the game out while the hype is still going on about the movie.. example, Lord of the Rings. How many cheesy games came out over that movie? I hear there is one good one though..
My brother convinced me to play the Starwars MMORPG.. yeah, what a mistake. He played it about 3 months past due when everyone figured out how to become a Jedi.. how lame was that.. Starwars.. just a big hype.. leave it to the books and to the movies.. in a few years they'll make a worthwhile game for it... until then, I'm not a huge starwars fan..it's another movie to me.. I don't own a starwars shirt, or a lightsaber or one of those white stormtrooper outfits.. It's another movie made to entertain me.. not my religion either.
Sorry, so sick of hearing anything about starwars.. I guess you need to be a big fan to play the game.. I haven't cared for the games yet..

Well to tell you the truth I'm not a star wars fan either, and also tired of the hype. I'm talking about the game. Didn't you read the post? It has nothing to do with the commerical side of it. I'm talking about the game!!

I own baldurs gate II. I couldn't get into it. Going from Diablo II to that. Very hard game. It's great, but had no patience to actually learn the game. I will always try later to figure it out. LOL

I liked Baulder's Gate.. beat that one.. #2 was just the same kind of work.. but the first one hit the nail on the head.. I played Icewind Dale.. that was good too.. though a lot shorter and not as intricate.
As far as starwars.. I just don't care for the whole starwars thing so the games really don't interest me.. It's hard to judge a game like starwars because you have so many basement dwelling starwars wearing t-shirts that will claim anything starwars is the best.. their judgement is off because of their warped minds.

Correct. I hate Starwars, but the game was put together pretty well. It's the first format that I've played on pc thats similar to like...Ummm...Final Fantasy series. I'm used to controling what the character does. In this one you can't manipulate very much. I heard the latest you do more of your own fighting instead of point and click a command.

Actually doesn't it take a few years to construct a movie. Maybe they fabricate the games during this period. That gives atleast 1.5-2.5 years to complete?

Lord of the Rings wasn't expected to be a HUGE hit like it was.. it was geared towards fans like StarWars is.. so when the first two rounds of computer games came out, they sucked. I don't think Lord of the Ring took too long to make.. it was done in a short time.. like 6-8 months or something since all 3 were filmed at the same time.. which took down time of consistently recreating the same stuff..
Matrix games.. those all sucked.. Matrix wasn't a hit when it hit the theaters.. but the games came out a long time afterward.. but that's when the hype kicked in.
Think of any of the games that came out after a movie.. they were released soon after.. the games were low quality.. no replay value.. very short games.. but they all had that price tag..

I totally agree with you. I have checked out the MATRIX, and LOR, and just by looking at the back of the box I knew they sucked. Even in magazines the advertisements showed pixelated screenshots. I usually look for visual quality first before a game grabs my atttention. I don't like when a certain movie like those come out, and then you see games to lunch boxes come out just to grab the money.....and the funny thing is people eat that up!, but not me.....lol

KOTOR2 is supposed to be well buggy and crash to desktopesque.
Also it's not really all that changed from the first except not as good.
So consider that before you spend your cash.

That game (Baldur's) is alot better w/ the cheats. You can at least create some decent armor and weapons for your party so the first part of the game doesn't take forever.
You should probably start with the first one though, if you haven't already played that.

And hey, riser, to the best of my knowledge, those aren't made after the movie. It's more like an additional story, a different one. It's not the usual recreation of a movie into a game. The only thing would be that it's in that same basic universe. That's my understanding anyway.

Well, yeah.. they're making people think they're buying a game about the movie.. when they're buying something that looks like the movie, has the title of the movie, has the same characters in the movie, but it just sucks..
It's a way of getting people to buy stuff based on the hype going on about it..
I mean.. look how they're pushing Star Wars stuff right now.. everyone will buy it while the hype is going on.. now, 8 months ago.. it wasn't being bought at the rate it is..
oh.. and just my 2 cents.. This latest episode.. yeah it wasn't good.

Yeah I would need cheats for this one like you said. I lost interest fast when I seen how involved it was. I'm not that patient with games like that lately.

That particular game is a legitamate sequel to the first. If you didn't play the first one, it migh confuse you.
At the very least, it requires you to be familiar with the controls of the players as you jump in to a story in progress. You have to try to play a fairly advanced set of characters with beginner knowledge. That's the way I saw it anyways; I went straight from one to the next. (with maybe some Icewind Dale in there for good measure)

Oh, BTW,
The best way to attack that game (Baldur's) is this:
Choose multiplayer instead of single player. Then, just choose your connection type, create game, and start new game. Then you can create all six characters. You have to be connected online for this (which is kinda lame) but it then allows you to start with a party of six. You can always ditch one if you want to pick up someone you meet.
