Alrighty...so i'm to be building a new gaming machine (as you'll se later, mine has seen its days)
so on the list i have...
Aspire X-Navigator ATX case
WD 74GB raptor SATA
WD 320GB 7200rpm SATA
Asus A8R32-MVP 939 w/ radeon XPress 3200
AMD Athlon X2 4200+ 939
Corsair XMS 2GB DDR400
ATi RADEON x1900XTX PCI-e
Sony 52x32x52x CD-RW
good DL DVD-+RW (havent't piced one out yet. suggestions?)

but on newegg, the X-Navigator's PSU has really gotten some bad ratings, like 1/2 of all of them fail/kill systems, and i can't afford to have $2k hardware die on me.

so, anyone know any good, quality PSU's, keeping in mind these:
-Upgrade stock heatsink to Thermaltake Venus 12 (BEAST 6700RPM fan.)
-I'm a cooling freak, 40C is too hot for me, so judge by this, my current X-Dreamer II case is loaded with 11 fans.
-After i get more cash, the X1900XTX will have a partner to play with in the 2nd PCI-e slot.
-I'll probably add more HDD's than those two, but don't let that bother you much.
-System will stand as my main for 2-3+ years (i'm so cheap i had a PII till about 2002. then i got an athlon XP. lol)
-Minimum is at least 500w.
-max price should be less than 100

so, with that in mind, any good, reliable, and cool PSU's, and if they're good looking is a plus, my side window's huge?

thx

This is one I am eyeing...
May buy in a week or so...

Fortron Epsilon 600watt
Has 4 x 15amp 12volt rails that dynamically balance power so all 60amps could flow through one rail, if needed to.

Although that is a great PSU it does not meet his $100 criteria.

Other great options:
1. Enermax EG565P, 535W for $88.50 shipped
2. Antec TPII 550W for $96.98 shipped

i'm leaning toward that FSP one...

and although the package and the product don't say so, i clocked the fan at full speed with my PurePower feeding it 12v, 1A, and it maxed around 6700RPM. its not that loud in an open space, and even when i turn the fan down to merely 2000RPM it still keeps the CPU at a 42C level idle, 48C gaming.

with that, any more suggestions, or nice DVD+-RW DL drives?

NEC 3550A or the LITEON SHW160P6S05 - both are under $40 but good drives.

I'll 2nd the Antec TPII.. it is a nice one for under 100 bucks.

Just though the RAIDMAX RX was interesting, with the Modular Cabling Support, though I thought it was 550, but it's 530W.
