While I was installing sp2 from the CD, it began to extract files from the
i386 folder but when it got to the 1386\p2pgrah.dl file the extraction
failed. it also says "Data error (cyclic redundancy check)" in the Extraction
Failed message box.

if anybody can help I'll be thankful.

Try copying the SP2 file off the CD to your Hard drive then run it.If the
error continues you might have a bad CD.

What do you mean it didn't let you copy the files to the HD? What happened?
You can likely order another CD if you want to do that but you should be
able to copy the files from the CD to your hard drive. The disc is not copy
protected. Just create a new folder on your hard drive, then open the CD and
select all the files and drag and drop them to the new folder.
