Damn.. I saw all those post about conroe.. but no processor yet?? How come? Does Intel cannot built them in reliably in sufficient quantity? Why wait that long? Nothing's ready enough yet to ensure world wide distribution? And, does benchmarked sample were hand picked sample that were fuctionnal enough to ensure proper performance? What is so fun bragging about an inexistant product for consumers?
I cannot simply admire the stupidity of most poster here about conroe.... AMD fanboy are no better too. But I should say, they seems less stupid. Less stupid do not mean not stupid thou.. There is still stupidity in them, but less than expected, I admit. But, I guess that, after being bashed by AMD fanboy because of the bad performances overall of their favourite CPU, Intel fanboy now just come her with a vengence. Well, not that AMD fanboy did not suffer from Intel fanboy in Thunderbird time, when they were getting hotter than Intel cpu.. So, it is one, then the other, then the other one...
What mostly amaze me is how fanboy has no life apart their love in their cpu. While I'm not going to judge them, I can at least, feel some pity for them... well, actually not.

Good post pat, and you are right, the forums are much more valuable if the BS threads are kept to a minimum. When it gets to the point that only 1 or 2 threads on page are useful or informative is not helpful to the posters requiring help.

OP, do you have some sort of serious ADD? I ask this because your topic started in one location, and traveled ENTIRELY to a different location. It was horribly hard to follow. I specifically enjoyed this statement:

I must be horribly stupid, because I did not follow that statement one bit!
Going by your post count, which is high, I see that you have frequently spent time on these boards. I am probably right to assume that you spend a lot of time in other message boards as well. Thusly, you should have learned this lesson by now - There are fanboys everywhere! There are PS2 fanboys, and XBOX fanboys. Some people hate Honda Civics with a passion. They consider them ricer vehicles, stupid teenage cars, etc. They are complete anti-civic fanboys. Then there are the others that love their Civics, don't "rice them out", love the gas milage, etc. They think that their Civics are the best cars possible. They are the Civic fanboys. There's also the "sex before / after marriage" fanboyism. Some entirely believe in one way, and others entirely believe in the other way. Nobody can talk one or the other out of their decisions. There's the atheism/religious fanboyism. Obviously, none of the mentioned fanboys have anything to do with CPU's. Regardless, there's ALWAYS going to be someone who loves something with a passion, coupled with someone who hates it with a passion but loves something else.
Fanboys will always be around. What you have to do is to be able to change your attitude on how you perceive fanboyism. I do a lot of lurking on this forum, and have noticed a lot of it. But, in my opinion, I kind of like the fanboyism. People will argue tooth and nail about their specific CPU on here. I like it because I can hear the extreme pros and cons of each side of the CPU battle. When people argue, and I read it from an outside perspective, I get to learn quite a lot about the CPUs. Obviously, sometimes people don't post logical and legitimate reasons for their favor towards one company or another. However, you just have to put those posts aside and ignore them.
Am I a fanboy? I don't think so, but I suppose you could disagree with enough reasoning. I own a PS2. I don't own an XBOX. Am I a PS2 fanboy? I don't think so. I've got a GameCube as well. What's my reasoning for not having an XBOX? Because I've owned a PSOne as well, so I just continued my trend onto the PS2. I didn't feel I could justify spending another few hundred dollars on an XBOX, when I already had a system that kept me entertained. Do I not like the XBOX? Of course I do. I enjoy playing Halo at parties. I just don't want to spend the money to buy one. Am I a CPU fanboy? I don't think so. Everything I have owned has been a Pentium, but there's no fanboyism in that. It's just that when I received my laptop as a gift, it had a Pentium. When I received my desktop as part of my scholarship, it had a Pentium. If someone were to show me a good deal on a nice AMD gaming rig that would justify cost : performance, I would certainly give it a good look.
My point is, there are fanboys everywhere, and there are people who you could perceive as fanboys, who really aren't. There are the good arguing posts, and there are the bad. You just have to develop an eye to skim past the worthless topics.
Creating a topic about being mad about fanboys certainly doesn't help the issue. There have already been those kinds of posts on this forum, and this just adds to it. Creating one with horrible spelling and grammar certainly adds fuel to the fire. If you want to explain how you are tired of fanboys and want to create a topic doing so, by all means go ahead, but just protect yourself. You have to prove that you know what you are talking about, by having good grammar and spelling, and good coherent sentences. You have to prove your credibility by gaining peoples' respect. You are not going to get it by calling people "stupid fanboys" and telling people that fanboys "masturbate" to random crap. You have to do it in a justifial, friendly, inviting way. You have over 4,000 posts. You should know that by now, through experience.
Anyway, that is all. I'll hop off my soapbox now and let others chime in.
