Hard time understanding why 7600gt is better than a 6800

I was looking at the specs and the mem bandwith on a 7600gt is 22.4 gb/s while on a 6800 it 19.2 gb/s. The interface on the 7600 it 128bit while on a 6800 its 256 bit. Is it because the card runs faster that a 7600gt is better than a 6800? Im having a hard time trying to understand the memory interface(not the size of the ram a card has). Please explain

7600 Has more memory bandwidth, newer technology, way faster clock and memory speeds. Add all that up and you get a better card.
