Hi guys :-) , I have a strange problem ,
the game "command and conquer yuri revenge" won't play on either of my 2 lga775 p4s'
one is a 3ghz the other 2,8 ghz. when clicking on the exec it simply flashes on then off.
on my other p4s' 478 2,4ghz celerons, the game plays fine, and on my (sold) amd3000+ also
played fine, my 1st instinct was that it was a problem of higher "bus" speeds in the lga
setup , have tried under-clocking doesn't help, it works after a fashion (although missing
some functions) if I use winxp and right-click the exec and emulate using win95 for example
any ideas ppl ? btw on the 478s' have used both win2k and winxp fine for the game.
tried wot u suggested disabling hyper threading = still doesn't work , btw other p4 s' r all
533mhz bus , also need 4 speed 2 will not work either ?? installs fine , but when trying to play give "not enough memory" error ... these lga don't seem very gamer friendly at all ?!
The P4 LGA775 is very gamer friendly. Give us some more detailed specs of the machine. RAM type, speed and everything else. That will help narrow it down some more. Also, are you overclocking?
Your problem almost certainly has nothing to do with LGA775 or the front side bus.
Like the guy above me said, please post ur specs and OS. Are you using the latest motherboard drivers? Are you using the latest video card drivers? Have you tried changing your desktop resolution? Have you installed the latest patches for C&C?
Just to try and give more info , no overclocking on any of the pcs'.
The ram is the same for all the computers, vga adapters fx5200 and x700
tried on all machines.hdd s , and game versions for both games r the same on all.
operating systems , both win2k and winxp used on all, however with win2k for example
yuris' won't play at all since there is no (that I know of) "right-click= emulate"
function ? as in winxp.(see 1st post on this)
I am using standard mobo drivers from the mobo disk, and use identical drivers when
using the agp cards.I use 1024x768 on all the machines.
The pcs' that yuris' and need for speed2 don't work on
As u can see pretty standardised stuff , since I run my own small pc biz from home,
I have access to quite a bit of hardware, and have interchanged as much of it to try and
troubleshoot this problem (without success). My limited experience tells me it isn't any
of the following...os , vga card , ram , powersupply , game version (patches) ,
screen resolution or drivers. however I stand to be shown the way here :-)
I must say these 2 games r the only ones I have found so far that don't work on my LGA s'
then again I don't play all that many games anyhow :-(
....cs,generals,yuris,need4speed,farcry,snood (lol), will be trying much more when I get
my new rig x2 4200,xfx 7800gt. bundled with moto gp, x2 reunion,something else I 4get.

SiS chipsets uch never skimp out on a crap board or chipset (stick to nvidia and intel, or maybe ATi based) and change the drivers for em.
What about Direct X 9.0c? Make sure it is installed. And let me tell you, Don't spend all that money on a 4200+. Quad Cores are gonna be out real soon. Besides, you should see this Pentium D 805 compared to my X2 4400+. Trust me, don't waste your money on the AMD this go round anyhow. Save it for Conroe or Quads.
There are some patches I saw for need for speed 2 you might need. Can't remember where, but do a Google search with the game names and look around for bug fixes and patches. I had some of the same problems but it was mostly dual core related, where I had to shut one core off for older games.
Another thing to do is actually call the game manufacturer. Activision or whoever. They may know something that you need. Hope it works out for you.
Well now that I have my new pc , x2 4200+ / xFx7800GT
at least one of the games "yuris' revenge" is working fine now.....go
figure ... I still say LGA no good for gaming / not backward compatible
;-)

You mentioned in another post that you used the drivers from the mainboard CD....
These will nearly always be several versions/months old....

yes , however similar "old" mainboard drivers worked fine on socket 478
P4s' , btw I have same date/brands on 478 and 775 (ecs) and (asrock)
and on the 478 works fine but not on 775 .
anyhow now I have my x2 4200+ works fine again (except need4speed2)
but I m playing newer versions now , "most wanted" , motogp2 , etc... :-)
