sata HDD as a USB device?

hi there, i wanted to unplug my usb device the other night and when i double clicked on the little usb icon on the bottom right, i saw my WD raptor drive in there. why is it in there?

SATA is hot pluggable but i wouldnt recommend doing it. that's why it's showing up in the hot swappable icon. that is not the USB icon. the usb icon looks like a trident/fork. the hot swappable looks like a drive with a arrow pointing away.
