Even though I can take-off, navigate, etc., pretty well, whenever I try to
land (I'm usually in a Cessna), I glide down well, but as soon as I'm about
100 feet above my touchdown point, the airplane begins to drift left or
right. So, I land great, but usually on the side edge of the runway.
One person told me that the problem was that I was using a MS WingMan 2
joystick, in that when I try to correct for the drift, I also affect my
altitude, etc.
I've tried very hard to compensate, but now I'm getting discouraged.
Could you please offer up some tips and/or wisdom concerning my inability to
keep the airplane centered and lined-up all the way through the landing?

Cant offer any advice on the Wingman 2 so don't know if that's the problem.
Suggest you try the landings and set your wind to zero to see if that has
any effect. If you can down the center line with zero wind, then you know
that crosswinds are probably causing your problem, and you will need to
learn how to compensate for the winds on final.

I was also thinking that it may be a crosswind. Try setting the wind
straight down the runway
at about 15 knots. The other problem may be that you are getting a bit too
tense as you approach and twisting the grip a bit thus putting in rudder
without realising it.

Perhaps you should test your joystick:
While on the ground, hit Ctrl-S for the overhead view. Then turn on slew
with the Y key. Now move your joystick around to see if it has any "play"
in its movements. You should be able to let go of it and have no movement
of your position. And you should start moving within a quarter inch of
movement.
If it does have play, you might be able to adjust it out under
controls-sensitivities- adjust the null zone a lower value.

Thank you all for the great advice. Turning off ground turbulence made a
big difference, and now I'm "tweaking" my joystick, too. FS2004 is, to me,
a *huge* program. My last version was the '95 edition....I don't miss those
old square clouds one bit. Thanks again.
