i am currently running an ATI 9000 64MB DDR graphics card, I know it sucks. My funds are currently very limited, so I am looking at a BFG FX5500OC http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=BFG5500OC-BULK can anyone tell me if its worth purchasing. I am a light gamer. I only play DOW, Battle for MiddleEarth, and Panzer Phase 1.

Thanks for any input

Thats not a bad deal since its so cheap, but honestly if you spend a little more now, it will make your comp last so much longer. You could get something like this

If that is totally out of your budget range, then I would suggest trying to find a cheap 6200. Such as:

A 6200 outperformcs a FX5900 in most of the current games, and comes close enough in the older titles as well. So you may as well spend $15-20$ more and get a card that is many times better.

A 5500 is not much better than a 9000. You won't even notice a difference. Complete waste.

The bottom level card you'd need to see a difference is a Radeon 9550/9600 or 6200.

If you can, hold out for a Geforce 6600 at least, or Radeon X1300.

i appreciate the help but the first card would not work because it is Pci-x and i really dont wanna spend much money being this is a socket 478 p4 northwood 2.4 oc to 2.9, and i will be replacing it with conroe, lol

Your best bet is probably a cheap 6200 AGP then.

Yep, AGP 6200 or AGP 9600 would work great.

Much better would be a used 9700 PRO or 9800 PRO from ebay... probably could get one uncer $50.
