Recently, I installed a Sapphire X850 XT...replaced stock cooler with Artic Cooling Silencer 5, no problems. However, I have been having frequent hangs and lockups especially when switching users. This seems to be caused by the Catalyst 6.3 drivers. I noticed that the lock-up does not end until the "ATI logo" appears in the bottom right icon area on the display. Any idea on what I can do to resolve this issue? My temps have been fine and my system specs are:
Dell Dimension 9100
Pentium 4, 3.0
1.5 Gig RAM

Have you tried reinstalling the drivers? This could help a lot. Or it could be due to the fact that the ATI catalyst center tends to eat a lot of processor time and memory when it is intialising....

I uninstalled Catalyst and tried Omega Drivers, works perfect now. You would think that ATI could develop drivers that work...ugh.
