Hey, i have a crappy fx5500 256mb right now and am looking at this card.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814140067
It is unlockable to 16 pipes and 6 shaders.. supposedly. That is the max i can spend right now and was wondering if i should look for another card with at least 256 mb ram. Also when i unlock the pipes and shader units can any permanent harm be done to the card.. or if they dont work can i just close them...

Thats A Nice And Fast Card Man , But Belive Me You Will Have Problems With 128Mb Memory For VGA ( I Had Leadtek 6800128Mb Beforce My 7800GT)
Try Finding Something Like eVGA 6800 GS or X800XL , I Say Try To Spend A Little More Money and Buy a 6800GS ( 225$ )
But For That , I Think You Will Be Able To Unlocked The Other Pipe Lines,It Wont Hurt Your Graphic Card , It May Show Artifacts In Games , And Yes You Can Change Them Back Into Its Normal PipeLines

A cheap friend of mine bought one. It's an off brand so you're taking a gamble; if it works it'll perform very well for a 130$ videocard.

If you read the reviews, a lot of people seem to be having problems with it stock, so unlocking does not seem likely. (You get what you pay for, kinda)
