I recently upgraded to XP, but my LJ did not.

I've read a few of the horror stories and did my best to jump through the
hoops, but no go.

I keep getting several messages. The first says the JS Fax is not connected.
The second says a scipt could not be run, WFS? Finally it won't print at
all, says the printer is offline. I've installed/uninstalled several times.

Any ideas?

Bill,
My process was to install the drivers (latest one for the 3100 from HP's
site) first and then connect the printer. If you connect the printer
first, you could encounter problems.
