TV tuner conflicting with webcam

Hello everybody,
I have a problem since I added a new TV tuner card to my desktop: when I try to use Yahoo Messenger or MSN Messenger or Skype, the IM software will connect to the TV video capture card instead of connecting to the webcam like before.
I tried to play with the video settings in the IM by selecting the webcam in video preferences, but nothing changed. I was only able to see the webcam capture in its own software, but not in third party software like the Messengers.
In the end I had to remove the TV card in order to be able to use again the webcam in IM.
Any suggestions on what I could do to avoid this conflict and be able to use the webcam when I need to?

Tune the tuner software to source>webcam everytime you want to use it.

I had the same problem with a couple of my TV Cards.
I think I overcame the problem by uninstalling the Web Cam and TV Card and then reinstalling the TV Card and webcam last.
