I'm trying to get the meatball to work for the F-14 and F-18 with "carrier
operation package for FS2004 military jets" (RCBco-11.zip). I have to dial
in the ILS on nav 1 for it to work but don't have any of the nav values for
any of the carriers.

Is any one using rcbco-11 with FS2004 and how do I get the meatball to work.

After setting up the panel.cfg I can take off with the catapult but the
button is so close to the hook button it takes a few tries for the catapult
to work.

Thanks,

Robert,

You won't find an ILS on the CV off San Francisco.

The default CV74 off San Francisco in FS9 does not
have any navaids or ILS. So, about a year ago in
a frenzy of adding CV's throughout my FS9 world I
also created AFCAD files to give the Kitty Hawk
the necessary navaids and ILS. The one unfortunate
thing with the MS placement is that the carrier
is pointed in the wrong direction for the prevailing
winds in the SF area ( from the west at 10-15 knots ).

You can grab my creation here:

http://www.cris.com/~pstrogen/temp/AF2_KKH.zip

The zip file contains an AFCAD2 file and a FLATTEN
file.

Place both BGL's in your "Addon Scenery\scenery"
folder.

The AF2_KKH.BGL file creates runways and NavAids
on the Kitty Hawk ( CV74 ) just off San Francisco.

The NavAid frequencies are:

ADF KH 363.0
VOR VKH 117.90
ILS IKH 108.50

Once the files are placed in your scenery folder
you will find a listing for USS Kitty Hawk in the
Flight Planner Airports list when you select
San Francisco as the City.

Also, the GPS display will show the ADF and VOR
frequencies in the "NRST" list. When you select
"Airports" from the GPS "NRST" list you will see
a listing for the Kitty Hawk and the ILS frequency
will be listed on page 3 of the "WPT" listing.

Grab the files ASAP as I will remove them in a day
or two. Oh, as part of the ILS addition, I also added
VASI to the runway 6 approach so you can do night
landings to your hearts content. FYI, I don't use
the "meatball" feature of the RCBO installation. Only
the catapult and hook features. This makes it more
of a "sweaty palm" approach :)

Happy landings,

Paul

Thanks Paul,

I installed your files and it is great to see the carrier in the San
Francisco start location and start on the carrier.
I dialed in the ILS setting but I still don't see the frens light on the
left of the cables which should be the "meatball" Is the meatball the
window with the green square window with shift 6 or 7?

Thanks,

Take a look at this thread, they're making a whole carrier group with
AI traffic, landable carrier and escort ships. Looks like it has gone
Beta, so I guess it soon will hit Avsim, flightsim etc. And best of
all... It's freeware.
