I am guessing you mean PCI-E. Yes you will need a new CPU, Motherboard, and RAM, and of course video card.

If you are a gamer, trade in your P4 for an AMD system. AMD owns in the gaming market right now. I would go with an X2 3800+ or Opteron 165. Asus and DFI make good Socket 939 boards under $130. For RAM get 2GB (2x 1GB) of OCZ Gold RAM (around $200 at Newegg). FOr a video card, get a 7900GT for around $300.

If you are switching from AGP to PCI-e you will definitely need to switch motherboards and graphic cards. The RAM will depend on what motherboard you have and what one you will get. It looks like from Asus' website that your motherboard utilizes DDR memory and is socket 478 while most motherboards that use Intel today used DDR2 today.

From quickly scanning newegg.com it looks like that socket 478 only uses AGP so you might actually need a new CPU to match your new motherboard as well. Although I am not 100% sure.

Need new motherboard, RAM (If you are going to an LGA775 (Intel) system, if you switch to AMD, you an reuse that DDR. Need new processor as well, and video card. Can save money and get a board with onboard graphics (Nforce 430 + geForce 6150/6100) or ATI Xpress 200 + Radeon X300, or Intel GMA950 onboard, then stick in a PCI graphics card later if needed.

Yes. PCI-Express.

However, it seems that I would have to get a whole new Mobo, Video Card, Ram, and Processor when really only my video card is holding me back at this point. I just don't know if it is worth it for the setup I have to go with the 7800GS, or to go through more or less a brand new system.

How long do you think the 7800 GS would sustain my system? Another year? (Pent C can easily be overclocked to about 3.2 as well if needed, have it at 2.9 right now).

Also, any news on a 7900 GS for desktops (not the laptop version)?
