I just over clocked my 7800 gtx from 450 to 486mhz...and from 1.25 ghz to 1.31 ghz memory. you think this is a safe over clock? will i see a difference in frames even if its just by a little bit? and how do you check the temperature of your gfx card and what should it not exceed? thanks-belial

results wont be too obvious and no that clock is totaly safe
u can push up to about 510/1350 without artifacts
but anything above that may cause artifacting and/or heating problems

What does the auto OC tell you you can go to?

I get that clock speed on my 7800 GT with no problems. Memory on the other hand I can't push that far. I've seen some GTXs go fairly quick though.

As for if you'll notice it, do you have anything you don't think runs fast? Check that out. My guess is with a GTX, you're probably good to go as far as overall power in just about any game today.

haha, yah the gtx can run everything on max settings...and by max i mean AA all the way up and same with filters. but, when i do that on games like cod2 and quake 4, there is the occasional loss of frames...which to the average gamer...it doesnt really matter...im picky..so when i see that, i just get annoyed..so im trying to push everything so i can even get 1 or 2 more framers per second...the auto clock actually pushed the clock speeds faster..'but to play it safe, i turned it down by about 10 mhz and 40 mhz.

the coolbit isnt very accurate on what are the "optimal speeds" imo
my gtx can go up to 550/1400 without artifacts in most games. but shader heavy games like FEAR will produce major artifacting
if u want to go past that u will need to feed your card more volts
