Hi, ive had my p4 3.2ghz prescott skt478 for a while and ive noticed during certain games and when converting video files (from .avi to mpeg4) my cpu usage is only about 50%. Also the usage is all on the left side of the graph when using software to show cpu usage. The right hand side is only about 2 percent and is only processing the operating system idle process.
Is this normal

Yep that can be normal. Some games and utilities will make full use of your processor while others will not. It just depends on the software you are running.

It depends on if the applications your running support HT or not. Windows shows and/or 'thinks' there are two physical processors when there is only one. What ever game or program your running only showing 50% means, it doesn't support HT.
