I have a bad connection, but I'm getting 150-200 ping with my 56k, is 175 ping good for good online gaming???

anything below 400 is playable online. heck, i used to play with an 800 average (on aol, got slightly better with netzero!) now i never get above a 100 with my adsl

It also depends if you are getting packet loss. If there is packet loss than It would be rather hard to play reliably.

I really don't care what my ping is. Just as long as I don't get that stupid little red disconnect sign in UT and it is not choppy.

I can't believe that Fredi has not made my sig the sig of the week yet. :frown:

I think that that ping time is pretty good for a 56K connection. I used to get pings in the low to mid 200s using a USR 56K modem back then.

oh yea it also really depends on the game as to what your ping will be and how sensitive the netcode is to latency.

Even a broken watch is right twice a day...

you're lucky. my ping was around 350 on my modem. i just changed appartments and got on the lan here at school (t3). i started a game of tfc and took a look at my ping....i think my neighbors below me hate me now, i was dancing around the room for so long.

I have a Cable@512kb and yea it never goes above 87
