I've just bought a "shopsoiled" Pixma 4000, having thoroughly examined
it before purchase. It is immaculate with original cartridges (i.e. it
doesn't seem to have been used for demos). Whenever I print from it I
get black ink smears on the left and right corners of the top of the
print. On checking the inside of the printer, I find black ink in what
appears to be a reservoir on the right. This is where the printhead
docks and it seems intended to provide a seal for the printhead.
Anyone else experienced this or can suggest a cure? Have I been "penny
wise and pound foolish"?

Ken

I get the same thing at Times from my Brand New Pixma 5000.
