im upgrading my system which is currently a sempron 2500++ (palermo core) 512MB RAM, MSI K8MM-v (via K8M800 chipset) + int. video card.

i've been looking over the internet for a mid range card that my system can handle. and i found that geforce 6 series and geforce 7800 gs support agp (since my mobo can only fit AGP). 7800 gs would be great. my friend told me that it is a waste if i buy 7800gs since sempron 2500++ is a weak processor and can't take full advantage of the card. any advice on this?what card that would fit nicely in my system with minimum bottleneck on it?

I think you should be okay... that 2400+ is 1.4ghz, I think, from what I looked up.

BFG recommends at least 700mhz CPU.

But they also recommend these PSU requirements:

A minimum 400W system power supply (with 12V current rating of 20A or more)

Not all 7800GS may require this, since BFG is OC'ing the core on the one I was looking at... which was 375mhz to 400mhz.

But, you might want to consider 6800GS since it is cheaper, and I think you may just get about the same performance.

how bout the 6600 series? is it worth ? coz from wat i know, the 6600 is much cheaper than 6800gs. and still offer almost the same performance. and i still can mod the 6600 vanilla to a GT or something.

or maybe should i get the x1600?some sources say that x1600 is a overclocking king.
