I am looking for an inexpensive way to get dual monitor.
Nothing fancy nothing fast, just business applications.

Can I just throw a PCI card in the computer?

Are there certain ones that work best?

Is the ADD2 the best/cheap way? (Is there an ADD2 with a VGA output?)

Thanks in advance

"Can I just throw a PCI card in the computer? "

Yes, there are/were GF2mx variants in PCI...(not to be confused with PCI-e, by any means, shape, or fashion!)

SHould be able to find them for $30 or less..

Anything special I have to do.

Are there cards you recommend, or ones known to cause issues?

I tried an old PCI card (circa 1997) and I could boot either monitor port, but XP crashed if I tried to boot with a monitor on each.

Does the card have to be new enough to know about multiple monitors?

Are there ant PCI-Express-1X video cards? (or 16X cards I can run in a 1X slot. (thinking of buying the card that has teh longest potential life to be handed down into other machines.)

Anyone? Anyone? . . . Beauler?

Well, here are my thoughts.

1) a low cost PCI card, ATI 7000 based (or will I have better luck with NVIDEA?)

2) an ADD2 card and put my LCD on that port (Would prefer to usse VGA ports to give me more flexability)

Would like to have more confidence that what I am doing will realy work before spending any more money. Anyone want to chime in?
