What would be the best mobo for these babies? Also, is OCZ the best choice for memory in this case? Im thinking of doing it all with a FX-57 san diego core.

I have heard the A8N overheats, and the DFI lanparty is a pain to configure, and I have no clue what to do.

If you have not already purchased the video cards, I'd look at a pair of 7900GTs instead, same 24 pipes, higher core/mem speeds, and 10% faster framerates for $299 each...

As for mainboards, I'd go with either an Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe or MSI K8n Neo4 Platinum SLI board...

Why are 7900 GT's cheaper than their 7800 GTX counterpart, yet faster with more bandwidth?

What brand would you recommend purchasing? Specifically as a pair?

Get the Asus A8N-SLI. It WILL NOT overheat as long as you have any kind of airflow. Also, don't get the 7800GTX. Get two 7900GTs for about $200 less at www.newegg.com. Don't get OCZ. Get 2x1GB A-Data RAM for about $143 a pack. Also, do not get a FX-57. Get a X2 4800+ like me. Or..the FX-60 if you have that much cash. Also, DO NOT get POWMAX power supplies. They...suck.

the 7900gt is made using fewer transistors, the 7800gtx used like 10000000000000 billion on each square cm. the 7900gt uses like 10. thats why the 7900gtx is barely more than a 7800gtx even though its a lot faster

Yeah, but it doesn't support two lane x16; the source of that heat, I assume.

I also opted for the fx57 because i heard of problems with dual core in games like bf2, plus im not a heavy multi tasker and games are not fully utilizing the dual core processing yet.

I also went with the 2gb Corsair 3500LL Pro memory becuase it is optimized for the A8N32-SLI Deluxe. Note I chose the 32 because its got that dual x16 capability.

I agree with the fungle berry here except I chose the MSI board. MSI is easy to configure (you really don't have to do anything out of the box) plus it has good onboard Creative sound. They are kinda spendy though...

"Why are 7900 GT's cheaper than their 7800 GTX counterpart, yet faster with more bandwidth? "

They are essentially a die-shrink version of 7800GTX, with faster core and mem clocks....about 10-15% faster in all the gaming benchmarks I saw...

Every extra frame helps!

And since they actually hit the market at roughly their MSRP of $299, it makes the $430 7800GTX make pretty much no sense whatsoever......

So I am taking the wise advice from you all and getting the two 7900 GT's.

I purchased this 600W "SLI-ready" PSU OCZ600ADJ-SLI which indicated it had a 12V1 and 12V2 rail? It indicates that each one has 20A and seems to indicate that their total would give 35A. Thats when they are both connected together, but I really need the high amperage on one 12V rail, right?

What the heck?

The manual indicated that with an FX-57 and 512x4, 7800 GTXs, and SATA x4, there should be at least 25A on the 12V rail.

"the 7900gt is made using fewer transistors, "

Is it honestly "fewer" transistor junctions, or are they just smaller based on the 90nm die process vs. the 110 nm process? :-)

heh, good point. well either way they consume considerably less power.

I'd go with the A8N personally, mostly because I have had an excellent experience with it. However, with experience DFI's can pwn Asus boards due to its great OCing capabilities.
