My friend just got a brand new PC... It's an AMD Athlon 64 3500+, 1024Mb DDR400 Biostar NFORCE 4 motherboard, Windows XP home SP2...
His computer works real good, except, a couple of times a week, when he select shutdown to turn off his computer, when all leds are supposed to go off and all, the fans keep spining, and the HD led come on and stay on. The green led goes off... The screen goes black too like the PC is off. He try to reset or power off the system, it doesn't work. He need to disconnect the power to turn it off. It doesn't do it all the time, do you have an idea what is th eproblem?
I agree. You can also read the MB manual from front to back and make sure the system doesn't have a "cooldown" function that will cause the system to continue to cool down after a shutdown. Does the problem persist after intensive CPU running? Leave it alone next time it happens and see if it shuts down automaticly after awhile.
