I have a HP ipaq 1945 with bluetooth capabilities. I bought a new Bluetooth
receiver to work with it. I have pocket streets 2003 installed in my Pocket
PC.
The bluetooth receiver connects fine with the ipaq 1945, its shows the
connection. As I open pocket streets and try to ask my location, it gives
the error message" the serial port is available but no signal from the
receiver".
The configurationof gps receiver shows me to configure on two serial ports
com3 and com9. I have tried on both , none works.
Bluetooth serial settings on my ipaq for outbound port is on com8 and
inbound on com5. Is this the problem? does it need to be on the same ports
as of the receiver.
The ports of receiver and the ipaq both are non configurable and can't be
changed.
Can anybody help me do this, what is that I am doing wrong here, or is it
the problem with my device or the software. I can't figure out anything.
Please help.

Have you tried 5 and 8? You will only need one port. When you set up the GPS
to PPC connection you need to use the connect to device option and then let
the process discover the serial profile supported by the GPS. You connect
the GPS via BT first, then open Pocket Streets. Going to set up the
connection in PS should list the serial ports that the PPC has available at
the time. One of them should be your GPS. (one is a sync port usually, one
the IR, etc.) Each device is different in what port it assigns to the BT
serial port. It is consistent within a device, so if anyone has a 1945
working with BT, they could provide the right port #
The GPS support in Pocket Streets is actually pretty dismal even when it
does work. All you are going to get is a dot showing where you are. If you
can, I'd take a look at some other mapping options to use with your BT GPS.

It's working in COM5. The problem is when I open the pocket street and ask
to track my position, it gives a message "the com port is available, no
signal is being received, make sure gps is connected to the correct port" I
try to configure the connection from pocket street but the only port I can
choose is com3 and com9.
thanks

OK, how do you know it's working in Comm 5? If Pocket Streets doesn't list
comm 5 in the configuration page, that normally means it is not available at
the moment. That could be because it has not been established by a BT serial
connection having been initiated, or that another program is using comm 5.
If you are using some other utility to verify that the GPS is working on
comm 5, make sure that is not running when you try to set the PS comm port.

yeah your'e right! I'm using another program thats why i know its working in
comm 5.
OK, I remove now the program and use the bluetooth manager to make a
connection with my gps.
first thing I did, I establish a connection between my gps and ppc. then I
open my pocket street and click "track position"
same thing happen, same message. So, I close the program restart my ppc and
gps. This time I didn't establish a connection between the
two device, I open the pocket street, go to configuration menu and choose
comm3. then I click "track position"same thing. I go back to configuration
and choose comm9,click "track position", same thing.
