Just bought a new computer and I want to overclock it. This is actually my first time to overclock a computer. If its possible to make it run 20% faster or more with limited cooling fans it will be great. Here is the spec:
MSI K8N Neo-4 Platinum Motherboard
Athlon64 3200+ (Socket 939)
2pcs 512MB DDR400 Kingston Value Ram (in dual channel)
WinFast PX6600TD MyViVO(GeForce 6600)
Seagate Barracuda 160GB SATAII 7200rpm w/NCQ
Task TK-945TX-DF 450 watts dual fan PSU
Casetek CK1026-9 Midtower w/ air duct
Cooling Fan:
Stock CPU Heatsnk
1pc 120mm Cooler Master Chassis fan (rear mount exhaust)
May I point you at the A64 Ocing Sticky in the overclocking/cpu forum.
Your CPU is probably a Venice. if that's the case then a 20% overclock (which would be 2.4Ghz since it's stock speed is 2Ghz) is almost guaranteed. Most people get 2.5 or 2.6 out of those at least.
Your RAM isn't the best, so you'll probably have to run with a memory divider, but that's not really an issue. You never know what it'll do until you try I guess.
Yup my CPU is a Venice, thanks for the link and info Chip,I just read it, btw im runnin ntune will it have conflict when i overclock my rig and do i have to disable Cool n' Quite?
