A friend of mine told me that if I'm serious about gaming I should stick with a wired mouse. He seems to beleive there's a nanosecond of lag from when the mouse moves physically and when the omputer acknowledges its movement. Does this sound like crazy talk to anyone else. A wireless mouse would really clean up the top of my desk nicely.

You can game with a wireless mouse but some do have some lag when picked up and put back down. I know the first generation logitech laser mice did that however some optical mice work just fine. I went wired on my new build mainly cause pissed me off when my girlfriend used my computer and wouldn't set the mouse back on the base unit to charge it. The new G5 Laser mouse is l33t though. Fast and accurate. Hits 6.5 megapixels per second. It is nice and no more battery problems! Organize your desk well and you won't have a problems with the wires.

If u get a cheap one then yes u can notice some lagg in fps.
But with a new logitech game mouse? Neeh
electricity and radioways travels with the same speed it just a q on how often it uppdates.
And with 2000x uppdates per s then I would say your ok

Got and "old" mx700 optical myself and Im pretty ok with this in fps but it starting to get old so I prob go for a G7 or the mx1000 laser mouse.

Well its gotta be sent over the radio frequency, so yeah there is a nanosecond of lag. If you are picky enough to care about it, then go get a wired mouse.

Will it really matter? Doubtful.
Is it all in his head? Most likely.

Just try it. If you don't like it, then return it and get a wired one.

I personally like wired just cuz no batteries to worry about. Plus people can't pick it up and leave it in another part of the house! :P

Some lag is inevitable.

Also you have to worry about interference, batteries and the extra weight.

Picture this:

You're about to frag your worst enemy and all of a sudden your batteries die and you can't move.

I doubt everyone else is going to wait around while you run to the store to buy new batteries or while you charge your existing ones.

Some rechargeable batteries used in mice are downright awful... many MFG's still use NiCads    :x
