For under $200, any ideas? I'm upgrading my socket 754 mobo to a PCI-E mobo and want to get a the BEST video card for under $200 (preferably $160-$180). What is the most powerful gaming card I could get for that price? I'm trying to get the best possible for that price to run Oblivion on the highest possible settings with the specified card (hopefully most settings turned on on 1024X768). Hope you guys can help, thanks.

BTW, please don't comment on my Socket 754 mobo, stay on topic please.

Hmm...$200.

X1800GTO, 6800GS, GT. Maybe a 7800GT provided you could find
one that cheap, also, X1800XL. Which, if you could stretch your funds, would be a nice option. And for $100 more bud, that would get him a 7900GT.

If you want to run Oblivion with most settings turned on, I'd probally recommend the 7900gt... It costs the same as the 7800gt and outperforms the 7800gtx... I have it and i can play Oblivion at 1280x1024 with most settings turned on while having a constant 50-60fps. Its gotten to like 35-40 fps one time in a really graphic intence part. But it was still very playable

Well guys, sorry to say it, but I think my processor would bottleneck those cards at a $100 more AMD Sempron 3000 + 1.8 Ghz :(.

Nope, it wouldn't.

it takes a very CPU intensive game to bottleneck a CPU. Most games are Videocard limited.

The Sempron 3000+ is a decent gaming CPU.

The X1800 XT is also a good $300 card, slightly better than the 7900 GT IMHO.

Which countries currency does that $200 come from ?

US$200 dollars may get you a few decent cards: GeForce 6800 GS/GT, Radeon X800 XL/GTO, etc

AU$200 dollars and you are looking at a GeForce 6600 GT / Radeon X700 Pro, which won't run Oblivion all that well.

The 7600GT and X850XT are your best bet for under $200 USD. The only X1800GTO's I've seen are way too overpriced right now. I'll also agree with others that a $300 X1800XT or 7900GT would be a great place to put an extra $100 if you can swing it. I haven't seen any, but if you can find a 7800GT for $250, then that would be a nice buy inbetween.

for under $200 its the 7600GTfew extra more the X1800GTO... if you can swing the $100 like everyone else has said, then its the 7900GT

only if nVidia would make a 7600GTX with 256bit interface, price it at $230... they would spank ATI at that price point
