hey guys, i'm planning on building a gaming rig by the end or this month and I was just wondering.
Antec Neo HE 550W
k8n Neo4 Platinum
Ballistix 1gb pc 4000
XfX 7900gtx?
amd +3700
I need 2 know if the +3700 will be a bottleneck for my 7900 GTX?
will I need 2gb of ram instead of just 1?
I know that battlefield 2 requires at least 2gb. But in overall, will 2gb of ram benefiet me now? or should I just wait??
What about my +3700, should I stick with that or go sumthing a bit higher, my $$$ are limited
PLZ help me out here :(

okay, the 3700 will not be a bottleneck for your 7900GTX. However, i would consider DFI UT-4 Ultra instead of MSI. the reason being your using PC4000 ram so you need to OC to get DDR500, but MSI's oc ability does not match that of DFI. To work around the money, get a 7900GT and OC it to get same performance as GTX, scrap Ballistix and get any of these 3 fine ram:

All of these will OC to DDR500 easy on a DFi ultra with faster timing than that ballistix and in 2gb instead of 1gb. Even without the rebate they are good deals. Note the first G Skill is capable of 0 Tras on DFI and 2.5 cas at DDR500. The OCZ can also do 2.5 cas.

I'd get 2gb right now. There's no point investing in 1gb and up to 2gb later. The time you want to up to 2gig will either be very fast (waste of $$$ on 1gig) or very long (DDR price increase). Plus the 1gig will bottleneck your GTX, not the CPU

if you do a lot of multimedia and multitasking besides gaming, then either get the X2 3800+ or wait for M2(drop in dual-core price).

that modular PSU you chose has terrible reviews (i consider anything 3 out of 5 as terrible). try this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817104155.

You only need a 500W PSU with the 7900GT cuz it doesn't need extra juice.

OR you can look into this underdog brand http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1273337&CatId=1079

3700+ will NOT Bottleneck Your 7900GTX ...
Yeah ... 2 GB ram Is Better ... You Will See The Difference in F.E.A.R. and BF 2 ... Dont Wait For The Future ... Upgrade To 2Gb Ram NOW !
Oh , I Forgot To Say That You Can Also OverClock Your CPU To Get More Power ...

That RAM is a poor investment (price/performance wise) if you are not overclocking, or not significantly overclocking.

Consider 2 GB of slightly more mainstream, but far more affordable, PC3200 DDR-SDRAM, such as the OCZ DDR PC-3200 2GB Dual Channel, with the option to easily, and affordably, upgrade to 4 GB down the track.

OCZ also do a 'Premier' line (under the Gold / Platinium line, but far cheaper): OCZ DDR PC-3200 Premier Dual Channel with better timings that is also 'affordable'.

G.Skill are also offering some damn good gear at low prices: http://www.gskill.com/ddr.html

:? Yes, I realise the irony of recommending OCZ right after saying "if you're not overclocking", but I am sure you get my gist as a gamer. 8)

few things i would say about it.

get a 3800+ X2 dual cores help.

2gigs of ram are allways beter then one, especally in BF2.

go with EVGA for the vid card, in 90days step-up to whatever.

maby a DFI or asus board for OC'ing
