I have been able to get it to 2.6 GHz but once i get over that it will become unstable and crash, it is really starting to piss me off and i know i can go further but it is not working, am i doing something wrong or is it my rig. Im guessing its me.

I'd love to help you, but I don't have enough information to even begin to start. What are your voltages? Temperatures? RAM timings? The more information you give us, the more helpful we can be. Please see my siggy for some ideas as to what information we need.

You may want to test with prime95 or cpu burn-in to make sure its stable for at least 6hours.

I have the same cpu, able to reach 2809 mhz stable.
using zalman cnps 9500 cooler
2 x 1gb g.skill zx 2-3-2-5 1t
XFX 7800 gtx

try taking the core voltage to 1.450 , if it's on auto.
That worked for me.
