Having gotten a laptop with built in wireless, I decided to
drive around and see if it would detect any networks. In
the course of 2 hours I found about 20 wide open networks.
They broadcast their SSID's and had no encryption. To me,
this is an open invitation for public use, but 5.0 might
see differently. Anyone know the current legal status,
U.S.) on using open wireless access points?

Don't know what the laws are, but I read on article that some companies are putting a "W" on their building to signify some sort of free wireless access. (advertising has got to have their hand in there somewhere). The rest are just people that don't know what they are doing.
