I installed a new mobo - the asrock dual-sata2 yesterday. When I turn it the fans turn on but the mobo won't boot. The cmos jumper is set correctly. Everything else seems to be in order.

The only thing that I think might be the problem is that I have two differnt member sticks. Could that cause it to not boot?

I also installed a new chip - amd 3700+.

Any opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks from the noob.

try booting with one stick of mem.

make sure cpu is seated properly.

only use "needed" hardware, no extra's.

blah blah blah.

Most likely culprits:
1. Improperly grounded mobo - an extra stanchion installed and unused.
2. Not all power connections installed or installed correctly
3. Bad PSU
4. Bad mobo

Bad or incompatible RAM can cause the board fail to POST.

Clear the CMOS (could take several attempts for the board to actually POST)

Check the P4 12v connection and the ATX connection, particulary the P4 - 12v connection (I've had power supplies with no power coming from the P4 connector before... replace it if it bad)
