Shuttle or not?

I'm planning a more or less full upgrade of my system, and I was wondering if shuttle XPCs are a viable option, as they look cool, use up less power and space and are also mobile.

What do you guys reckon the pros and cons of them are?

pro: compact, low power and quiet. Heat pipe cpu / case fan combo.
con: propritary PS and Heat pipe cpu heatsink, could cause issue when upgrading...

I would get one for a media player / pvr...
the aspire X-Qpack case caught my eye since it is more "standard" microATX, and let me choose my mobo / cpu. prob would not be as quiet...
