Windows 7 OCZ Vertex 2 60GB-10GB Missing

all the files on the C Drive including the hidden file account for 37.3GB with 8.78GB free with Vertex 2's total space of 55.7. Meaning that i have 9.62GB space missing.


AMD Phenom II X6 1100T
8GB(4x2GB) DDR3 1600Ram
HIS Radeon HD 6850

Anyone have a clue to why i am missing 9.62GB of space?

One reason is the size of a file and the size it takes up on a drive are not the same. For example, if your drive has a cluster size of 4K (4096 bytes), then a 1 byte long file will take up 4K, and a 4097 byte file will take 8K, etc. Of course, most files are much larger, but when you have tens of thousands of files it adds up.
