Can A8N SLI Deluxe run with single Extreme N7800GT DUAL ?

Does anyone know if the Extreme N7800GT Dual 512M card can run with the Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe mobo ? I can't get drivers loaded successfully for this. I've tried the latest (84.25) and also the ones that came with the card (77.77) and all of the ones in between, nothing works. I'm running XP Pro with an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe mobo BIOS ver 1016 & Nvidia Chipset drivers 6.65.

When I'm installing the drivers, half way through the loading of the files, the screen goes blank and the monitor switch goes amber, no signal coming from the card. I reboot in safe mode, uninstall...and then try again with a different driver version, nothing works, ...half way through driver install, screen goes dark & monitor shuts down. A couple of times the PC hung and/or self booted. I have the external power to the cord plugged in, I also have the Asus E-Z Plug connector in....but I tried it with it unplugged and also plugged but nothing works. I have the N7800 card in slot PCIEX16_1 with the EZ Selector Card set for single video card. The BIOS text is even bugged, tells me that it may be more than just a driver issue and more a compatibility issue with this particular card & mobo. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated......thanks
