Yeah right... they had such nice equipment in WW2....not. Did you even look at any screenshots before you posted your comment, Xeon? Because you could not be more wrong.

::cough:: it's a modern day FPS. Not a WWII..

and why don't they ever put out a WWI game? I mean, I want to kill everyone with mustard gas and mow people down in trenches with machine guns while they run at me..

wait.. maybe that'll get boring real quick.

In the right hands a WWI game would be awesome...Imagine charging across No Man's Land, with the chaos of battle all around, fixed bayonet, light 2 cigarettes put out your zippo and light the 3rd cigarette!
I've been to quite a few WWI battle sites and graveyards in France and it would be truly incredible to see a good WWI shooter!

Yeah.. the french also invented their own gas mask.. they took burlip bags.. pee'd on them, and those prevented mustard gas inhalation..

the odds weren't very good when running across no man's land..

I see a lot of olders WWI Aces type games..

just had a nice thought though...

they could do a WWII game with a little RTS type thing mixed in..

you start by shipping out from England for D-Day.. whlie getting straffed by Germans... if you die, you go back to england, or a check point, always a slow advance.. basicall someone has to get to a check point, then that's your new spawn point..

but have it go and go.. you secure the beaches, then the nazi's spawn back off the coast.. all the way until they're beat back into berlin.. then the game ends.. or until the assault is beat back and london gets attacked..

have staged fighting.. granted it would be hours of playing.. but online with the constant flow of people.. it'd be unending.. but then you'd have to put up with those retard people..

which is why i like playing America's Army.. you have to train in single player before you can go into the game... so people know how to use the weapons, etc.. they just don't know team work.

It sounds like fun, definately a realistic spawning scheme could be devised based on where the bulk of the forces are positioned. There would only be one multiplayer map since it would be so mega-massive, or it could be on many different servers handling 1 map or section each, with load times between map stages...damn I hope I live to play something like that. I could see that happening with Day of Defeat since people do work together much more than COD or whatever.

I'm surprised they haven't come up with something like that.. Or host like 2000 people.. have it start at certain times in the day..more like an online organized event..

Everyday at 10am the war starts over..figuring at some point it will end.. you can come and go as you want throughout the day.. get a couple games going.. maybe 4-5 games total.. or more depending on how many people come.

like a real, total, all out war with massive amounts of people.. that'd be cool.

I'm sure there are plenty of nay sayeys out there, but I think it could really happen. Nobody is going to dedicate an entire row of super-massive servers without the game having a subscription fee, but maybe the environment could be broken up into several smaller sections or maps each sharing stats and info with each other. Fight your way through one map, and then load up on the next server to progress or retreat depending on how the battle is going.

You can have the fame.. gimme the money. :)

People are going to expect you to come up with a better game.. it took me long enough to figure out all the stuff I wanted in this one..

Or you could be like Blizzard and release a good game every 7 years..

If DOD Source turns out to be good, I think we should try putting together a team. You got any mapping skills?

I've dabbled.. I have a friend down at Full Sail who is working on game design and my brother is into mapping..

Nice, I've dabbled too. http://www.minestorm.com

A lot more than I have.. I created maps a while back.. I don't play enough games any more.. I haven't really found too many I like.. those I do, people tend to ruin or cheat too much on. MMORPGs require too much time to play..

I'm going to get ahold of my friend down at Full Sail.. he has a contact at Pixar in game creation.. he gets a list of people.. maybe I can at least throw my idea out there for him.. haha

Reply to Riser

Would you consider making a DODsource mod out of it, provided the game turns out to be as good as expected?

I'm thinking I just want a good fun game to play.. haven't put much thought into it. I'd like to have to big backing of a larger company to do it.. money doesn't really matter.

I'd do whatever just to make a good game but not ruin it for the average or new player.. having the new players is probably what would make the game even better than having the people who are really good at the game play all the time..
