6600gt pci-e problems

I've just got an ASROCK P4775Dual-Pro motherboard, and a gainward 6600gt, I got these to improve my performance ingame, I know theyre are not the best around but its all I could afford. I used to have the same but with a ati 9200 AGP card. The problem is is that the Nvidia card is PCI-E and supports x16 speed, which the motherboard also claims to support. Only problem is I cant get it running at that speed so its basically as slow as my old 9200. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I've looked all over the bios and cant find anything, even updated the bios

I have a feeling your motherboard does not support the x16 like it says it does and it may only be running at x4 on your pci express.

asus has the same problem, they say their board supports pci express x16 but it to only ran at x4, so my pci express card ran like rubbish to,

I sent the motherboard back and told them what they were saying in the book was wrong. thay agreed that it only ran at x4.

I have since changed my board to an elite 915pl-a2 sli ready and now my comp runs like the wind.

you should check the asrock website for the exact board you have and see if you can find this x4 I am on about.
